I went maternity cloth shopping...

So this afternoon after I challenged a pregnant woman to a game of "who can eat the most of all-you-can-eat-soup-and-salad at Olive Garden" (she won!) I headed to Macy*s with Melanie my 4 month old preg galpal. Her, her size D boobs, turkey and I went to go try to find her cute tops.

Who knew shopping with a preg girl could be so fun! Of course I totally love the clothes because they all are bigger in the tummy - would look great on me since it would hide my pouch!:) I was so determined for my girlfriend to get all the right clothes that I ended up stripping the pregnant mannequin in order for her to get the killer outfit it had on. The mannequin, when we left, was only wearing a white tubetop thing. I believe its something a woman wears around her belly to keep it in place?? It was fashion forward showing how preg women can totally wear see-through tubetops and matching mini skirts.

Who knew a non-maternal woman could love baby bum shopping so much?!

:0)

In one month I won't be in NJ....

I will be in L.A. with Miss Em visiting Disney Land, Hollywood and more...

Plans are to drive down to San Diego to spend a day with Diane S. whom I haven't seen in 4 years!

So the question I have is...

1. Any suggestions of things to do/see (ecspecially ones that don't cost anything!)

2. Suggestions of rental car companies! Any you recommend or don't.!:)

Thanks xoxoxox

Katie Holmes and a 500lbs man

So what does Katie Holmes and a 500lb man have to do with a personal goal of mine?
Simple...

I had read an article late last year about a 500lb man who was on his way to a better health and he had stated that his goal was to walk 5 miles per day for the rest of his life. I thought to myself, geez.. I am a lot healthier than this guy and can totally do that after some working out. Sometimes it takes someone off worse than you rather than better than you to really push yourself to think.

Then in November Katie Holmes splashed over the news by her running the 26+ mile NYC Marathon. It sparked something inside of me and I thought .... shoot I could do that. Well, not run 26 miles, but push myself towards a similar goal as she did.
For months I discussed this with Jeff and after getting a thumbs up from my doctors for health I decided to do it. I figured I need to a goal to get me off the couch and working on my health. Although it may seem silly to most of you that I should have a goal instead of just making a choice to be healthy and work out... but in order to keep with my choice I feel the need to have a goal that I can't turn my back on to help push me and keep me in line. So unknown to everyone in my life, only my husband, until now.... I signed up for the Long Branch NJ Half-Marathon. I have a little less than 5 months to be able to WALK 13 miles. My goal is to speed walk it and Jeff thinks I can jog it. But I want to keep to a realistic goal and if I am able to go beyond it then great.

Dear Jaimie :
Congratulations, you're officially registered for the Long Branch Half Marathon (LBH-13.1) scheduled for Sunday, May 4, 2008.

Being a librarian is all worth it...

To many it may not be a big significant life changing thing, but some who decided to make a career of becoming a librarian in hopes to help people and affect a life or two this is big. Perhaps the emotion I experienced in truth was to the fact that I had a conversation and got a smile out of a teenager rather then being yelled at and being called a bitch by a group of them just a week before. But I like to think this wonderful emotional moment is innocent and true to the lovely fact that I became a librarian in hopes to touch a young person's heart.

I usually get plenty of thank yous during the day and I clearly recall this wonderful patron of mine who reminded me of my grandmother Lucy coming in asking for my help once in a while. She had several unknown medical conditions and I provided her with some articles. She then came in one day and it was obvious they discovered she had breast cancer. I gave her some books and articles with a smile. Weeks later she came in to thank me personal because the book I recommended helped her so much. She will always stick in my mind and last I saw her several months ago she still had a her beautiful makeup, hair done and was all smiles.

But perhaps not even that touched what happened to me the other day... I was walking around the teen area of the library to inform all the kids that there were free magazines for the taking (well, its a library and they tend to still take the magazines they are not suppose to be). There was this girl who looked college aged in the area who was being all studious and looking at the YA books. It took a moment but then I realized it was a girl I had at my summer reading club a couple of years back. I waved to her and she was on her cellphone chatting. She dropped her call and then came up to me and with the sweetest smile told me "Miss Jaimie. I want to thank you. You changed my life. You had recommended this book Dangerous Angels to me and it changed my life. Thank you thank you!". I couldn't believe it.. could I have had a impact on this awkward teenager that turned into a lovely lady? Whatever it was, it worked. I ended up recommending her some Cecil C. books next...
