An emotional, historical night..

On the eve of a historical day in our country I sit impatient, excited and curious like most. In 24 hours we should know who will lead our country for the next 4 years. Through out all this election I have gone from aggravation to acceptance. Regardless of the outcome I am positive about this election. How exciting to watch two men from different generations and backgrounds who want to change this passionate country of ours. Although I am voting for one specific candidate I will be positive about whatever choice is made. I never thought I would say this but I like both candidates for different reasons. Whatever the outcome is I really hope we all unite a little better than we have in the recent years. We all have our histories and reasons why we choose what we do. We should all respect our judgments and learn from one another, not hate. I love how passionate some of my friends and family have been about their choices. I love how respectful most people are to our differences. I enjoy laughing at the jokes at my party. It’s okay, if we can’t laugh then what is there? But some people have gone over board. I was bashed on a personal level from some of my loved ones. Being told I am stupid, my knowledge is bullshit, my opinions are crap, etc. and embarrassing me in front of family and friends is beyond unacceptable. This is why I am being quiet and not talking to anyone for a while. It is best for my health and state of mind. I have been hurt badly (and btw, no one that reads this is any of these cruel people). I have every right to voice my opinion, argue it on an intellectual level with folks that think different and respect my loved ones own opinions. But we should all respect one another on a human, adult level.

This past week has been a stressful and emotional rollercoaster. Fathers Day 2007 was the last time my dear Poppop ever spoke. His passion in life was politics and when he was ill all he asked was a radio so he could listen to his talk radio. He couldn’t sleep unless he had Fox news in the background. It was a bit crazy, yes.. but that was him. So what did he say the last time he ever spoke? He sat up and reminded all his family to vote this election and of course told us who to vote for, haaaa. Tomorrow morning when I walk into that booth, with my dear Poppop’s spirit with me, I will vote for a man who loved his country and couldn’t be here to do so. I feel for this bittersweet moment for Sen. Obama who also lost his beloved grandmother before this election. Although, I will not be selecting him tomorrow his life story really touches me and I was hoping his grandmother would be here to see all her dedication paid off.

Goodnight, good luck and remember to vote!

Ugh... the week...

So the week of July 21-25 I wasn't feeling well so I didn't do many new things so I am going to CHEAT and give you 5 new facts about me... BE PREPARED!! SOME OF THIS STUFF IS GROSS, but I owe you the best! haaa.

July 21st : Ice tea is one of my favorite drinks (OJ, then Ice tea, then ginger ale) but I LOVED the taste so much that when I was a child I use to take a small cup of JUST THE MIX and eat it. Yeah... and I still think to this day it would taste good. LOL

July 22nd : I do not like the singer Pink. Never have, never will. She really bothers me. Perhaps it is that I am from the Philly area and know where she really came from (upper middle class) or maybe it is just that she looks like a man. LOL. So no, don't play her music for me and I won't be joining you to a concert of hers.

July 23rd : Since it is Olympic season I should add this fact about me... I once wanted to go to the Olympics as a synchronized swimmer. I actually started to train for it when I was in middle school and my swimming coach had actually been in the 88 Olympics. The dream and training soon ended when my family had to move to Europe and there was no coach for me:(. I still can still do a killer oyster move.

July 24th : After seeing a photo of Suri Cruise picking her nose and a caption stating she eats her buggers and poo I guess I should mention that when I was Suri's age I also scoop out my nose nightly and mushed my findings with my Flinestone Vitamin. Yeah, I guess it was some bizarre 3 yr old grooming technique. I can state I NEVER ate my poo, chalk or glue - just eww!

July 25th : I have never seen popular 80s movies such as Pretty in Pink or Sixteen Candles. I however have seen The Breakfast Club, so there is hope for me!

Chocolate... need I say more??

Went to Philly today just to try out the Naked Chocolate Cafe which is said to be the best chocolate place in the Philadelphia area. I purchased $20 worth of chocolate.. mmm!:)

I have to be honest that their signature pieces... I have had better. But the melted chocolate that you sip/scoop (it looks like hot coco) is TO DIE FOR as is this piece of chocolate that had hot peppers in it, YUM!:)

Great day for a .. Indian Wedding

J., I and a bunch of our friends were invited to a wedding last minute (see CK dress a few days ago). So today I attended my first Indian wedding. Well... I didn't attend the ceremony because the directions were wrong and after mapping it, even with a GPS unit, I still was 2 towns over from it. But we made it for the recepition and it was very interesting with some great music and even better food!:)

Check out my HOT shoes on the left.

This is your will....

There is this really kind older gentleman that comes into my work, studies the Bible and has kind conversations with others. He mystifies me because I feel as if he is some sort of angel with his kind manner. He even drives an older mint condition white Mercedes. Once in a while he will inform someone that something good will come to them soon and it always comes true. I always wonder if he will ever tell me something. Today, when we were closing he was hidden in the magazine area and he spoke with me. He told me things no one could know and I left with tears of joy. Lets just say he called me a title and told me it was my will. I don't want to tell the world as it was so special to me, but if you ask me personally I will explain.

He so reminds me of Morgan Freeman in the Almighty movies.

Fact Card

Since I seriously didn't do anything that I haven't done before (got my vehicle checked, did T-shirt decoration w/ the teens, etc.) I am going to pull a fact card.

Fact: I do NOT like red roses. I do like black magic ones, but classic red roses No! One of my favorite flowers is actually carnations. I find red carnations pretty, just red roses to me is boring. I actually requested NO roses for my wedding, but ended up having to have them due to the season.
